Washington DC on a date . . .

Well, last night, Joshua and I were able to go out on a date. It was awesome! We have some awesome friends here (Daniel and Sara) and Sara offered to watch our beautiful little girls Saturday night.

We had so much fun. We drove into the heart of DC and parked next to the Jefferson Memorial. We walked there and then to the Lincoln Memorial by way of the FDR Memorial. I can not express to you how amazing this all was. Joshua and I both love history so much and to be surrounded by so much was UN-believable.

So we got to the Jefferson Memorial right before sunset. I was just in awe at what we saw. I am sitting here trying to figure out a way to type our adventure so you can feel the way we did, but I don't think I can.

The monuments are HUGE. Jefferson himself stood about 3 times as tall as Joshua. When you turn around to follow the gaze of Jefferson, you look onto the Washington Monument. Anyways, here are some of the pictures . . .

This was the view looking out of the Memorial . . .

You can't see from this picture but the White house is right about where Joshua's neck is . . .

OK, so from there, we walked to the Lincoln Memorial. I think that is what I was looking forward to the most. It was gorgeous! It was hard to get pictures because it was pretty much dark when we got there, but I was able to get a few.

This is what Lincoln looks at every night . . . The Washington Monument reflecting off of the water . . .

Then . . . we saw the White House. It was dark so it was lit up beautifully . . .

Well, I am sleepy . . . there is so much more I can say, but maybe another time!

Holy cow . . . the HEAT!

So, I was out shopping today with the girls and thought, "goodness, it feels really hot out today, it has got to be at least 95-100"

Yeah, well I was close, it was actually 99 degrees and felt like 108!!! That is not even the high for today!!! Wow, I am really looking forward to fall ;)

We had a lot of fun at the Zoo. It was REALLY hot the day we went though, so I don't think we will be going back until the fall.

Been gone for a while . . .

Life has been VERY busy since my last post.
Now that we are away from most of our family and friends, I feel it is more important to keep this blog updated . . .

We are now in Virginia, about 20 miles outside of DC. Joshua has started his job with the DIA, and Abby is getting ready to start school. I took her to her school yesterday and was blown away by it. Not only is is one of the best schools in the county, it is one of the most beautiful. She is ssssssssoooooooooo excited to go. We went yesterday to get everything on her supply list and her face was just beaming!

We are loving VA so far. We are in Burke which is a BEAUTIFUL community there are trees EVERYWHERE. We have a Kohls, Safeway, Kaiser, and a Walmart, all within about 2-3 miles of us.

This past weekend, we went to the National Zoo. It was AWESOME but way too hot. We didnt see everything so I think we are going to go back in the fall when it is cooler. We also like to just drive around DC and see everything we can. I will post some pictures I have taken in the last week we have been here.

Aubrianna turned 2 since we have been here. She is so excited about it. She keeps saying " MY happy birthday, MY happy birthday!"

Anyways, that is my update for now. Everyone is healthy and still trying to learn our way around . . .

I will post more soon!
